Wines presented at the YamanaSHIOK event
YamanaSHIOK!, an exclusive event that features the wines and fruits of Yamanashi prefecture was held at Japan Creative Centre (JCC) on 5 August 2015. In collaboration with Yamanashi Prefectural Government, this is JCC’s third partnership with the local government as part of our effort to introduce the cultures and cuisines of various prefectures in Japan to Singapore. Yamanashi Prefectural Governor Mr Hitoshi Goto came especially from Japan for the event, and was graced by His Excellency Ambassador Haruhisa and Madam Takeuchi.
Demonstrating the perfect marriage of Koshu Wine and Chinese cuisine with lovely peach sweets from Yamanashi, a series of presentation was introduced to the guests. Ms Yuka Ishida, of the International Affairs of Yamanashi Prefectural Government, talked about the charm of Yamanashi prefecture and its specialties, such as their fruits and the pureness of their water. Next was Ms Ayana Misawa, the Chief Winemaker of Grace Winery, speaking about the wines of Yamanashi or Koshu wine to the guests, including its history, characteristics and perfect match with both Japanese and Chinese cuisines.
The last was Ms Aya Kakisawa, the Owner and Chef of Patisserie Potager, which is a vegetabe sweets speciality store, explaining about the fruits of Yamanashi prefecture and how it was made into cakes, sweets and desserts. Besides seeing and listening the wines and fruits, guests also had the opportunity to taste some of the Koshu wines, Japanese sweets and most importantly, to match and taste with Chinese cuisines, primarily the Dim Sum. Do stay tune and check out for more events in the future at JCC as we introduce the cultures and cuisines of other prefectures of Japan!
